Selecting and Installing Erosion and Sediment Control Measures

This half-day course covers the basics of erosion and sediment control. It provides a well-illustrated and practical introduction to the selection and installation of best practice erosion and sediment control measures. The course is designed for Council work crews and Civil Contractors involved in the selection and installation of erosion and sediment control measures and their inspection and maintenance throughout the life of a construction site.

It covers all types of sites; road construction and maintenance, water and sewer, watercourses, reserves, subdivisions, domestic and commercial construction and the content can be tailored to the specific requirements of the participating group. The course provides a practical overview of the available best practice erosion and sediment control measures, how to select and install them and how to maintain them in a compliant manner. A wide range of materials and measures are illustrated with both pictures and samples. Good and bad practice examples are contrasted. The course offers ample opportunity for questions, answers and discussion. It is lively, interactive and engaging for staff more familiar with the outdoor environment.
